Jezerski - Stari Grad

360° virtual tour in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The medieval fortress near Bosanska Krupa, Stari grad Jezerski, is located about four kilometers west of Bosanska Otoka, situated on a long slope that steeply descends into a gentle valley. It is first mentioned in historical sources in 1278 and represents an interesting example of a special type of old towns from which more perfected fortresses later developed. In the center of the fortress stood a tall round tower with walls 1.8 meters thick, whose entrance was raised four meters above the ground. Surrounding the tower was a solid wall seven meters high, in the shape of a rectangle measuring 16 meters in length and 12 meters in width. The town was built before the invention of firearms, as evidenced by the round openings in the wall that were used for shooting with a bow and arrow.
