The Statue of the Queen of Peace is located at the site of the first Međugorje apparitions on the Hill of Apparition, above the hamlet of Podbrdo. It was erected in 2001, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the beginning of the apparitions, and it was made based on the model of the statue of the Queen of Peace that stands in front of the parish church of St. James in Međugorje. The author of the statue is the Italian sculptor Dino Felici, and it is made of white marble. The statue at Podbrdo is a gift from pilgrims from South Korea. Nestled among the stones and the natural landscape of the Herzegovina karst, the statue represents a central point of prayer at a place that is visited every year by numerous pilgrims from all over the world. For visitors to Međugorje, the Queen of Peace at Podbrdo symbolizes peace, hope, and prayer, and it is one of the most recognizable features of this pilgrimage site.
