Rijeka - Mutnica
The Mutnica River near Tršac shows its most distinctive face – a calm, winding flow that twists through the green landscape in numerous meanders before merging into the Korana at the foot of the Old Town of Tršac. Its riverbed in the lower course is characterized by numerous bends, low and occasionally dense vegetation along the banks, and a calmer river landscape that significantly differs from the faster and more open flows of other regional rivers. It is precisely this pronounced winding nature that gives the Mutnica near Tršac its recognizable appearance and makes it interesting to observe from the surrounding elevations and roads that follow its course. The Mutnica is the largest right tributary of the Korana in the Cazin area, and according to official data, its natural riverbed from the source zone to the mouth is about 25 kilometers long. It originates from a group of springs in the Vrela area, passes through the Cazin landscape, and ends its journey right at Tršac, where its waters merge with the Korana. Its mouth is located in close proximity to the remains of the Old Town of Tršac, where the winding river, green banks, Korana, and the historical fortress meet at one point. Thus, the Mutnica is not just a watercourse, but one of the recognizable natural elements of the Tršac landscape – a river whose meandering flow and overgrown banks create a calm and characteristic regional ambiance.
