This city attraction is also known as the Tomb of Croatian Nobles, or the Tomb of the Bihać Nobility. The original sarcophagus was erected at the end of the 19th century at the site where the then new church of St. Anthony of Padua was built in Bihać. The remains of nine prominent citizens of Bihać, who died defending Bihać in battles against the Ottoman army in the first half of the 16th century, are interred in the sarcophagus. This tomb was likely located in the old church of St. Anthony of Padua, which the Ottomans converted into the Fethiye Mosque after entering Bihać in 1592. At that time, the remains were moved to a plot next to the newly built mosque, and after nearly three centuries, they were transferred to the sarcophagus.
