Japodski otoci

tourist attraction in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Region: Northwest Bosnia — Una Valley

The Japod Islands are one of the most beautiful and original tourist attractions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in the settlement of Račić, just about fifteen minutes' drive from Bihać. They consist of five river islets connected by wooden bridges, surrounded by the emerald river Una and lush greenery. Viewed from the air, the islands form a recognizable heart shape, which is why many call them "the heart of nature." This is a cultural and archaeological area named after the ancient Illyrian tribe of Japods, who inhabited these areas more than two thousand years ago and left a rich heritage in the Una Valley. Today, the Japod Islands offer a unique blend of nature and amenities – wooden bridges, waterfalls and cascades of the Una, a traditional restaurant with local specialties, boat rides on the Una, and special accommodations such as glamping domes and tree houses. For adventure lovers, there is also rafting on the Una, one of the most beautiful in the country. The islands are located near the Una National Park and are ideal for a family outing.
