The Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge in Višegrad is one of the most significant works of Ottoman architecture and one of the most famous bridges in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Built between 1571 and 1577 at the behest of the grand vizier Mehmed Paša Sokolović, the bridge was designed by the renowned Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. With its eleven stone arches, it elegantly spans the Drina River and represents a masterpiece of 16th-century construction. Due to its exceptional historical, cultural, and architectural value, the Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2007.
