Una National Park is the largest and one of the most beautiful national parks in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in the far western part of the country, in the area of the city of Bihać, right on the border with Croatia. It was established in 2008 with the aim of protecting and preserving the unique nature, rich flora and fauna, and the cultural-historical heritage of this region. The park covers about 19,800 hectares and includes the canyon section of the upper flow of the Una River, the lower flow of the Unac River, and the slopes of the Plješevica, Grmeč, and Osječenica mountains. The heart of the park is the emerald Una – a river that, according to legend, the ancient Romans named "Una" (one, unique), amazed by its unreal beauty. The biggest attraction of the park is Štrbački buk, a magnificent waterfall 24.5 meters high, one of the tallest and most impressive in this part of Europe. Alongside it, the cascading waterfalls of Martin Brod, located at the confluence of the Unac into the Una, also have a special charm. The park offers a multitude of outdoor activities – rafting, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and camping, as well as numerous archaeological sites, remnants of medieval fortresses, and sacred objects. Una National Park is a true oasis of untouched nature and an unmissable destination for all lovers of beauty, peace, and adventure.
