Spomenik Titanic
tourist attraction in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Region: Northwest Bosnia — Una Valley
In Bosanska Krupa, the anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic is commemorated each year, honoring four local men: Ćerim Balkić, Redžo Delalić, Ejdo Rekić and Husein Sivić. On April 10, 1912, they embarked for America in search of a better life, traveling in third class among many emigrants. After striking an iceberg in the icy waters of the North Atlantic, the ship sank, claiming more than 1,500 lives. The memorial in Bosanska Krupa preserves the memory of these citizens and the great wave of migration from the Bosnian Krajina region.
