The old town of Jajce is one of the most impressive and best-preserved fortified towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located on top of a hill in the heart of the former royal capital. With its high stone walls and watchtowers, the fortress dominates the city’s panorama and preserves the memory of the time when Jajce was the capital of the medieval Bosnian state. From the ramparts, there is a beautiful view of the entire city, the surrounding mountains, and the point where the Pliva River flows into the Vrbas with its famous waterfall. To the left of the entrance is the only preserved royal portal in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a reminder of the rich past of this area.
