Stari kameni most u Konjicu

tourist attraction in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

    Region: Central Bosnia — Herzegovina

The Old Stone Bridge in Konjic is one of the symbols of the city and one of the most beautiful bridges from the Ottoman period in Bosnia and Herzegovina, alongside the Old Bridge in Mostar, the Višegrad Bridge on the Drina, and the Arslanagić Bridge in Trebinje. This elegant six-arched bridge spans the emerald Neretva River and is considered the point where Bosnia symbolically connects with Herzegovina. It was built in 1682, during the reign of Sultan Mehmed IV, as the last great Ottoman construction of that era in Bosnia, and according to tradition, it was constructed by Haseći Ali-aga, a high official originally from Blagaj. German troops destroyed the bridge during their retreat in 1945, after which a provisional wooden, and then concrete structure stood for a long time. It was faithfully restored to its original form and ceremoniously reopened in 2009, with the installation of several thousand blocks of tuff using traditional methods. Approximately 102 meters long, with its six gently arched spans, the bridge still takes your breath away with its harmony and beauty. Surrounded by the old bazaar and the banks of the Neretva, it has been declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina and is an unmissable point for every visitor to Konjic.
