From the edge of the village of Lukomir, one of the most spectacular views in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina unfolds – a view of the deep canyon of the Rakitnica River. Located right on the edge of the canyon, at about 1,470 meters above sea level, this place offers a dizzying view into an abyss nearly 800 meters deep, where the crystal-clear Rakitnica winds far below. The Rakitnica Canyon, about 26 kilometers long, cuts between the Bjelašnica and Visočica mountains, forming a wild and hard-to-reach gorge filled with untouched nature. It is considered one of the deepest and best-preserved canyons in Europe, a place where nature still reigns in its full, untamed glory. From the viewpoint, there is a view of the powerful ridge of Visočica on the other side, with steep cliffs and green slopes cascading down towards the river.
